Industry Visit:
The Department of MCA and MSc (Software Technology) has regularly organizing industry visits to various IT, ITES Bioinformatics companies. The students have participated well in number for such visits in the past. It has given them an opportunity to experience the work culture, the challenges, need for the better technical depth with respect to the industry internship and Entry Level job. It has also given an opportunity to meet the alumni s of the colleges.

Brand Ambassadors-Participation of Students in Inter Collegiate Events:
The Students are encouraged to participate in several intercollegiate fests and competitions. This will enable them to compete with the students of other Engineering and Technical Institutes. The competitive spirit makes the person complete with respect to intellect and the ability to perform well then what he has done in the past. The students have won several Overall Championships, Runner-Up etc. The prominent Overall wins at the fests are “Gateways”-Christ University, Bangalore, “Techno melange”-MIT, Manipal . “Infotsav”- JC College of Engineering Mysore, “Chrominance”-College of Engineering, Trivandrum, “Shells” –Kristu Jayanti college, Bangalore.Etc. Several Students have also presented papers in National and International Conferences and have attended workshops. The Students have also represented the college in Cricket, Basketball, and Chess. In Swimming they are representing the college at the National Level.

MCA/Software Technology week:
MCA/Software Technology week- Fusion of Technology, Sports & Cultural activities. ELIXIR and MAGISTER the student associations of MCA and M.Sc(software technology) have organised competitions for the students within the faculty to enhance the competitive spirit. With respect to the competitions like Coding and Debugging , Web Designing , Puzzles , Mini Project Development , Marketing events , Stress Interview , JAM , IT quiz , etc have been organized. Along with Sports like Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, Carom, etc have been organised. On the last day there will be a Cultural function and Prize Distribution.

Academia- Industry Interaction: Infosys Campus Connect Programme:
With the initiative of Education and Research Department of Infosys Technologies Ltd, the MCA Programme, MSc (Software Technology) programme have been provided with an additional “Campus Connect Foundation Programme”. St. Aloysius College, Mangalore is the first of its kind of PG Centre in India associated with Infosys for such a programme apart from 300+ leading Engineering Programmes across the Country. This programme will enable the faculties under FEP, Train the Trainer Programme, Industrial Sabbatical, Seminars by the Infocians , Webinars from E&R Dept of Infosys , etc. In addition to that “Campus Connect Soft Skill Programme” from Infosys is a unique module help the students to develop Soft Skills. This Programme includes Communication Skills, Preparing for interview, Brain Storming etc. At present St Aloysius college, after rolling out 5 batches from the last 3 years it has become the advanced partner with Infosys Technologies Ltd.

Information Storage Management by EMC2:
With the initiative of EMC Academy (USA), Bangalore the MCA and MS programme has been provided with an additional support if “EMC Academy Information Storage Management Programme”. St Aloysius College, Mangalore is one among 36 of its kind of PG centres or Engineering Colleges to offer this facility to students in India in association with EMC.

AIMIT – Robosoft Apple-Mac Lab:
With the initiative of Robosoft Technologies, Udupi, one of the leading Mac Product developers, the MCA programme has been provided with an additional support of “AIMIT-Robosoft Apple-MAC project Lab”. The aim of this lab is to give an exposure to Students and hands on experience on Mac Systems to Develop projects during various semesters.

Rational Application Development Certification by IBM:
As the need for Object Oriented Systems is increasing day by day, the College has collaborated with IBM for Rational Application Development Certification for the MCA and MS (Software Technology) students. The Association also be initiated for DB2, Rational Rose applications etc by IBM Academic initiative leading to Centre of Excellence.

LAMP Certification:
Within any business, you must be able to access information, process it, and make it available anywhere. This requirement is particularly important in the always-on world in which users expect to be able to pull up any information required from any location. This course explores the Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP, or LAMP, Web development framework and shows how that framework can help you build applications to solve common business problems. The course begins with an exploration of the LAMP architecture ¸then introduces fundamental PHP Concepts. After a solid grounding of PHP, the course explains MySQL support, with coverage focusing on database concepts and how to access MySQL from PHP.
