Ivan
Fernandes is the Managing Director and CEO of Ducont FZ-LLC,
a Dubai Internet City based company dedicated to the development
and hosting of Internet and Mobile Commerce applications.
Ivan has been involved in banking technology since 1988, developing
IT solutions, specializing in critical on-line banking applications
for retail banking, trade finance, funds transfer, treasury
management and other related fields
Ducont
is the pioneer wireless applications provider and has deployed
several wireless solutions to its clients in the Middle East.
Some of its clients include Etisalat, Batelco, Qtel, Dubai
Police, Dubai Financial Market, Dubai Egovernment, Emirates
Bank Group, National Commercial Bank and Bank of Bahrain and
Kuwait. Ducont has already won several global awards for its
innovative solutions that include – Finalist at the
e-biz challenge conducted by Dubai Internet City in October
2000, Best Collaborative Solution at the Microsoft Fusion
Awards in July 2002 and again in October 2003 for the Eastern
Europe, Middle East and Africa region, runner up at the 2003
GSM Association Awards and Winner at the Microsoft Retail
Application Developer awards held in Paris in April 2003.

Prior
to setting up Ducont, Ivan had set up Synectics in 1995 and
successfully developed a banking front-end called ‘Quaestor’
which is currently used by a number of Banks world-wide. Logica
acquired ‘Quaestor’ in 1998. Ivan worked as the
Chief Technology Officer for Logica Financial Products and
Regional Manager – Middle East until early 2000 when
he promoted Ducont.

Ivan
passed his pre-university studies at St. Aloysius College,
Mangalore in 1981 before proceeding to graduate in Engineering
from Mysore University in 1985.
Starting
his career as a Scientist in Bhaba Atomic Research Centre,
Ivan used his specialisation in image processing to develop
a signature verification product that is used by several banks
world-wide and then extend into a career in banking as a IT
specialist. In May 1995, Ivan decided to become an entrepreneur
and setup Synectics in Bangalore specialsing in banking systems.
Ivan
is honoured to be recognised and rewarded for his achievements.
He was included in the International Who’s Who of Professionals
for the Year 2003. He is the President Elect of The Indus
Entrepreneurs (TiE), Dubai Chapter that is the world’s
largest group of successful entrepreneurs (majority of which
are Indians) with 40 chapters worldwide. He is a member of
the IEEE Computer Society and is on the board of some of the
reputable organisations in the Middle East. |
