Frescoes - St.Aloysius Gonzaga |
|
|
| A
number of paintings in the St. Aloysius College Chapel are
based on the life of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint
of the Institution. A few of them are shown below: |
| This
painting depicts St.Aloysius settling a dispute between his
his father and his elder brother
Did you know? Aloysius
was born in a wealthy family with power and influence. But
he renounced all this just to serve God and mankind. |
| This
painting shows St. Aloysius serving plague stricken people
in Rome during his rather short lifetime. It is this service
of his to the needy which continues to inspire people the
world over, even today.
Did
you know? The young Aloysius
spent most of his time serving plague-stricken people in Rome.
Sadly he contracted the disease himself and died a martyr
at an early age of 23. |
| This
painting pictures the death of St.Aloysius. The painting is
situated right next to the altar and is very prominent. The
artist has very precisely conveyed to the viewer the sadness,
enveloping everyone around the young Aloysius who is on his
deathbed.
