- St. Aloysius
College was founded in the year 1890.
- First association
of old students was formed in 1901, and named “The Aloysian”.
- “The
Aloysian” was later renamed, as the St. Aloysian College
alumni Association (SACAA) which became a registered body in 1999.
- SACAA has
presently 3032 members (local & overseas) and its membership
is growing each year.
- An Executive
Committee of twenty members which also including the Rector and
the College Principal guides the activities of SACAA. The election
of office bearers is held every two years. Regular Executive Committee
meetings are held on the last Monday of every month.
Some of the
activities held are;
- SACAA Talks;
Prominent speakers /personalities are invited to speak on topics
of interest to the general public. A total of 12 Talks were held
in the course of the last two years.
- ‘The
Aloysian:’ newsletter helps to communicate with the members,
far and near
- Currently
SACAA works closely with the Alma Mater for compiling Medical
Profiles of its present students.
- SACAA has
closely associated and associates with the Institution in organizing
different programmes like the Release of special stamp by the
Union Government to mark the centenary year of the paintings of
college chapel in the year 2001.
- Inauguration
of IT building on 12 January 2003. SACAA is also helping to raise
funds for the building.
- SACAA has
its own office at the college premises with a full time staff.
- Record of
members is computerized
- Accounts
of SACAA are computerised.
- Re-union;
This involves long advance planning. A cricket match is organized
between teachers and the alumni/ae. Reunion day is celebrated
in the 1st or 2nd week of January. Over 600 old students along
with their family members attend the function. The evening is
filled with games, singing, quiz etc. The highlight of the function
is a “Bon-Fire” with fire works, which is sponsored
by ex-students. Every year ex-students sponsor teacher’s
tickets for the Reunion also.
