STAFF Currently, two students are doing their doctoral studies at the Lab under the guidance of Rev Dr Leo D'Souza. Shashikiran Nivas is working on cashew; particularly protein patterns during morphogenesis. Maturation and germination of somatic embryos obtained from mature tissues and the possibility of genetically engineering insect-resistance genes to cashew is another aspect of the work. Anuradha M is using molecular markers to study genetic diversity among finger millet (Eleusine coracana), an important cereal crop of the semi-arid regions of Africa and Asia. |
