Prof.
A. M. Narahari presented the welcome address. As he reminisced on
the self-effacing and unassuming beginning of ACME in 1999, he dedicated
the fest to Late Prof. Valerian D'Mello and Late Prof. Benett Pinto.
Quoting the objective of ACME as "A pursuit of excellence",
he accredited the evident growth of the fest from 1999 to the present
stature, to the efforts pooled in by the students. Stating that
we have ample to share with the Goans, he enquired about their comfort.
His usual considerate self, devoid of chairs at the rear of the
auditorium. The theme song of ACME 2003 by Nestor and team followed
his address.

Quoting
Thomas Hobbes' line," Knowledge is power", Shawn Crasta
commenced his addressing. He said ACME to him connoted a celebration
of knowledge and a meeting ground for conceptualization and development
of ideas. Reminiscing the gathering of the evocative words of Dr.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, he stated festivals like these doubled up
as generators of ideas, developers of personalities a feast of creativity.
The theme of ACME2003 he notified was Mangalore.
The
Chief Guest at the occasion, Mr. Shiva Kumar reminisced his student
days in St. Aloysius College, Bangalore. His address predominantly
centred around the phenomenal growth of the telecommunications sector
in the country. He also mentioned that this industry is still latent
and if exploited to capacity can create scores of opportunities
in choosing the right career path. He also commended the solidarity
of the students in the organization of the fest.
The
brief address of the Principal was rather an enlightening one. He
urged the students to showcase their talents and put forward their
best. He said that he had over the past weeks quietly observed the
students work and appreciated their efforts. A concise reference
to the history of Jesuits was also made. He said the ability to
participate and reach out to others itself is glorious.
The
vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Shainy V. P. She quoted "Gratitude
is the fairest blossom that blooms from ones heart." She extended
her heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal and Prof.
Narahari, whose unique quality of head and heart had made ACME possible.
She also appraised the media persons for their excellent coverage
and also the different departments, the various committees. She
concluded by thanking the staff and students of all the participating
colleges.
