Report for ComposITe 2003


ComposITe 2003, an One-day IT fest for the BCA and BSc (Computer Science) students of colleges affiliated to Mangalore University, organized by the BCA students of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Prashant Madtha sj, Principal of St. Aloysius College at 9.30 AM on 22nd Feb 2003. Fr. Denzil Lobo sj, Director, Aloysius Institute of Computer Sciences and the man behind this first-ever BCA fest, presided over the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Fr. Prashant enthused the participants to simulate tomorrow's reality today by actively participating in the events.

During the course of the day, under the guidance of the Convenor, Mr. Anil Lancy Pereira, and the leadership of Student Coordinator, Mr. Paul Chandy, several competitive events were held. The participants were thrilled to be in the posh ambience of the New IT Building where the events were conducted. Stiff competition was noticed as the 83 participants from 15 colleges contested against each other with gusto.

The fest came to an end at 6.00 PM with a valedictory function presided over by Fr. Denzil Lobo sj. The chief guest was Dr. Aloysius Sequeira, Registrar, National Institute of Technology - Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. In his address, he said that Information is recognized as an important asset today and budding IT professionals should learn to manage this valuable resource.

Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Mangalore bagged the winners Trophy while Canara College, Mangalore were the runners-up.
